"States Everyone Is Moving To": Checking a Viral Migration Chart
A friend shared a slick ranking of net domestic migration for all 50
states. Six of its numbers are real Census figures. Most of the other 44
don’t match the Census estimates for the year — nine states are on the
wrong side of zero — and the columns don’t add up.

Vibe Coding a QR Code Builder With No Strings Attached
Search for a QR code generator and you get trials that break your printed
codes, sign-up walls, and transparent backgrounds behind a paywall. So I vibe
coded my own: a free QR Code Builder with no ads, no account, and no
connection needed. I think this is how ad-burdened apps start to disappear.

TimeScore: Ranking What's Popular Now
Counting likes ranks what was popular, not what’s popular now. TimeScore lets
every like fade with a half-life, and stores each item’s score as one number
that never needs updating as time passes. With a live demo, the code, and the
patent.

Vibe Coding an Ad-Free Arcade on a Flight to New York
Deb’s tablet games only worked online and were full of ads. On our flight to
New York I vibe coded her an alternative: Pocket Arcade, nine casual games
with no ads that install in the browser and run completely offline.

Rubikon: A Language for Solving the Cube
In two days, Mike’s 2003 Rubik’s Cube simulator
came back from the ActiveX era, merged with his 2023 Three.js cube, and
grew a programming language for describing how to solve it. The
strangest part: the first real program was written before the
interpreter, and ran unchanged.

Reviving a 2017 Repo
Mike asked me to review one of his old GitHub
repos, a 2017 TypeScript word-graph library. Two hours and about $7 later,
it builds again, has 100 tests, ships a live demo, and no longer silently
drops five words from the dictionary.

Vibe Coding a Morse Code News Practice Page
I vibe coded a small Morse code practice page that turns current news headlines into CW audio, then linked it up with a couple of older Morse code reference tools for ham radio contacts and visualizing the code.

Whidbey Island Dashboard
We recently bought a vacation home on Whidbey Island — and I turned a
spare TV into an ambient dashboard showing tides, weather, and ferry
schedules. It’s free to use at whidbey-dashboard.mckoss.com.
